HVAC

Small post, big money. Not very exciting as far as color or aesthetics go, but absolutely essential. In some ways, a boring bummer way to spend so much dough, but in other ways the most exciting milestone because we can actually live in our house now. (In fact, as I post this, we are bedding down in our actual house for the first time! Hooray! :))

First, there was this:

Unattractive, spider-infested, and a carbon monoxide deathtrap. Oh, and the nice charred spot on the water heater. Charming, no?

Then, many quotes and decisions later, there was this:

::hallelujah chorus starts playing::

Jack did all the plumbing work for the water heater, including adding an expansion tank, a pressure gauge, new shut-off valves, and reworking all the pipes around the new ductwork.

Cheers to the guys at RepairMax for the best quote, the best maintenance guarantee, the year of free servicing, the best flexibility, and the best awesomeness for letting Jack do all the work himself on the water heater, thus saving us hundreds, but still hooking up the gas part for free, thus saving us from dying tragic gas-related deaths, or worse, having the county come after us for not having the proper gas-related permits.

Cost:
Water Heater: Home Depot, $500 (saved $50 with coupon)
Expansion Tank: $35
Plumbing material: $110
New furnace and air conditioning, installed by RepairMax: $5240
