We are working along steadily at our big projects, and many exciting pictures will be coming soon as we wrap up some things. For now, I'm going to highlight a few details that God has provided great deals on.
Ceiling fans: On sale plus coupon we got them for $42 each.
Bathroom Light fixture: A dear lady from our church who was the wife half of our premarital financial counseling team told me about a thrift shop I'd never been to before. The very first time we stopped by my husband's sharp eyes spotted this prize, for $8.50!
Crown molding: a great find at Community Forklift (a secondhand construction outlet near DC) from a few months ago, We got 64 feet for $40. When the Mitchell family, missionary friends of ours from Mexico, were here on furlough, the father, Dave, helped Jack put it up. They worked together on construction work when Jack was in Mexico for six months, and Dave's taught him a great deal of what he knows. :)
Hall lighting: a great special at Lowes, with coupon $8 each. We're using them in both the upstairs and downstairs hallway, and one side of the kitchen.
Bannister: originally even longer than this, we cut it down to fit. The entire thing was $7.50 at the ReStore, and Jack cut and routed the little piece to connect it to the wall. What had been there was an ugly metal one, very dated, plus with about 63 coats of peeling paint. We like this look a little better! :)
Floodstop: this is a cool little gadget that you connect to your washer; if it senses moisture (in the pan beneath the washer) and shuts off the water. They retail for between $100 and $200 and we got it on ebay for $50.
Praise God for all he provides! More coming soon as we actually finish some rooms. :)
